A Scenic Beach
The remote Grand Anse (Petite Anse and Anse Coco) lies on the southeast coast of the island and is certainly the most scenic beach that you can see in the main islands. The island’s longest beach offers dazzling white sand and plenty of space to relax and be a sun worshipper. The lush green mountains backdrop and beautiful stone formations adds to your joy. The water is crystal clear but from April to October is monsoon season, so please be aware of the strong currents. Travelling to this beach is bit of a challenge; however it is worth it.
In the Seychelles, the name “Grand Anse” refers to two distinct and very different beaches on separate islands: Grand Anse on La Digue and Grand Anse on Praslin. The Grand Anse on La Digue is a stunning, wild, and dramatic beach of white sand, notable for its raw, open-ocean exposure and powerful waves and currents, making it largely unsafe for swimming (especially from May to October); visitors primarily go for the magnificent views and photography, often continuing on to the nearby, safer-to-swim Anse Cocos. In contrast, Grand Anse on Praslin is a much longer and more accessible beach known for its comparatively calm, shallow waters that are generally suitable for swimming and water sports, but it is important to note that this beach is prone to large deposits of washed-up seaweed during the southeast monsoon season, which typically runs from May to September.
