Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Zhangjiajie
Top of any visitor list is the stunning forest park whose soaring pinnacle peaks – hundreds of metres tall and only metres wide, inspired James Cameron to create his Hallelujah Mountains in Avatar. Begin with an early morning walk along the ‘Ten Mile Natural Gallery’, which runs at the feet of the mountains. Then catch the three-hundred metre high, cliff-hugging glass elevator to the top for wonderful trail views that immerse you in the mountains themselves. When the mist shrouds their bases, they appear to float, just like in James Cameron’s films.
