Fujiya Hotel

Established in 1878, Fujiya Hotel is one of Japan’s most storied and prestigious classic resort hotels. Located in Miyanoshita, the heart of Hakone, it serves as a living museum of Japanese hospitality. Many of its historic buildings are registered as Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan. Having hosted royalty, world leaders, and celebrities for over 140 years, the hotel underwent a major restoration in 2020 to preserve its architectural heritage while integrating modern luxury and safety.

The hotel consists of four distinct buildings, each offering a unique historical atmosphere:

  • The Main (Built 1891): Features classic Japanese-Western architecture with traditional wood carvings.

  • Comfy Lodge & Restful Cottage (Built 1906): Offers a cozy, historic charm.

  • Flower Palace (Built 1936): Famous for its exterior that resembles a temple and rooms named after flowers.

  • Forest Wing (Built 1960): A more contemporary wing offering stunning views of the surrounding Hakone mountains. All rooms feature high ceilings and historical details, with most offering private bathrooms supplied with natural hot spring water.
