Today you will start your Laos adventure by flying to Luang Prabang International.

Upon your arrival at Luang Prabang Airport, our driver will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel in the city center.

Check in to the hotel and the rest of the day is yours to discover the city at your leisure.

Continue to Wat Xieng Thong, also known as the “Temple of the Golden City,” one of the most important and beautiful temples in Luang Prabang. It was built in 1560 by King Setthathirath and is a prime example of traditional Lao architecture. One of the most striking features of Wat Xieng Thong is the “Tree of Life” mosaic on the rear wall of the temple, which depicts a mythical tree in vibrant colors. The temple also houses several shrines, pavilions, and a royal funeral chapel, making it a significant cultural and historical site in Luang Prabang.

Wat Visoun, also known as Wat Wisunalat, the oldest temple in Luang Prabang. It was originally built in 1513 during the reign of King Wisunarat. The temple is renowned for its unique architectural style, which combines traditional Lao elements with influences from Khmer and Thai designs. One of its most distinctive features is the large stupa known as That Makmo, or the Watermelon Stupa, due to its rounded shape. Day 2 – Luang Prabang Craft Activity

Rise early for a special dawn experience, witnessing the serene and colorful, iconic daily almsgiving ceremony as monks walk through the streets collecting food offerings from the residents a deeply spiritual tradition of Luang Prabang A highlight for many when visiting Laos. Afterward, return to your hotel for breakfast.

We will then embark on a cruise to the other side of Mekong to the Pottery Village. Start a short tour and history of the village, before arriving at the pottery center.

Create your own unique souvenir from clay and learn traditional Lao pottery techniques. Since the firing process will take at least 2 weeks, we offer you the chance to choose a piece that is already fired from a prepared selection instead to take home.

If you really want to take your own piece, it can be fired within two weeks* and be delivered to your hotel. If you’ve already left by that time, shipping by DHL is possible (+ shipping fees will apply depending on your location).

Lunch at the Pottery House.

Transfer to Ock Pop Tok, The living Craft Center where you will learn about weaving technic. start with an introduction to silks, dyeing and weaving techniques. Each student is assigned a loom, a guide and a weaver will introduce you to the art of weaving.

You will get to take home the product items at the end of the class. Silk colors can be customized!

Day 3 – Rice Farm Experience – Kuangsi Waterfall

Be ready for a unique and immersive opportunity to learn about traditional rice farming practices. During this hands-on experience, you’ll get to participate in various stages of rice cultivation, from planting to harvesting. You’ll gain insight into the life of local farmers and understand the importance of rice in Lao culture. The picturesque setting of the farm, surrounded by lush greenery and scenic landscapes, adds to the charm of the experience. It’s a wonderful way to connect with nature and appreciate the hard work that goes into producing this staple food.

Continue your journey into the lush countryside towards Kuang Si Waterfall, a spectacular multi-tiered cascade surrounded by dense jungle. Enjoy a refreshing swim in its turquoise pools or take a short but steep hike to the top for panoramic views.

Day 4 – Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves – Pakbeng by Somphoo cruise

Day 5: Your Day at Mekong Elephant Park

Your morning begins with a scenic boat crossing of the river to reach the Mekong Elephant Park, a sanctuary dedicated to the ethical treatment and conservation of these majestic animals. Upon arrival, you will gain a deeper understanding of their history and biology during an in-depth presentation (+/- 25 min), followed by a truly special encounter in the forest (+/- 45 min) where you can see the elephants in their natural habitat. You will then have the unique opportunity to walk by the elephant’s side (+/- 30 min), experiencing their scale and grace firsthand without the use of rides or harnesses.

Following the walk, you will move to the riverbank for a peaceful observation of the elephant bath (20 min), watching them play and socialize in the water at their own pace. Day 7: Into the Rainforest Canopy

Your day is dedicated to exploring the lush, protected valley of the Houay Nam Kat Reserve. Starting with a traditional tuk-tuk ride from the resort at 09:00, you will dive deep into a landscape defined by its high biodiversity and dramatic natural features.

The highlight of the morning is the trek to the Nam Kat Waterfall, a multi-tiered cascade hidden within the dense jungle. To reach it, you will navigate a series of 13 sky bridges—suspended walkways that allow you to walk through the forest canopy. Day 8: High-Speed Journey to the Karst Mountains

Around noon, you will be transferred to the Oudomxay Railway Station to begin the next leg of your adventure. You’ll board the modern Lao-China Railway, a high-speed journey that whisks you southward through the rugged northern mountains. As the train glides toward Vang Vieng (14:00–15:34), keep your camera ready for the dramatic change in scenery—the landscape shifts from dense jungle to some of the most spectacular limestone karst formations in Southeast Asia.

Upon arrival in Vang Vieng, a town famed for its pristine natural beauty and riverside charm, you will check into Vieng Tara. Nestled among emerald-green rice paddies with a backdrop of jagged peaks, your accommodation offers one of the most iconic views in Laos. After your flight, you will return to the hotel for a well-earned breakfast before setting off on a scenic 6-hour overland drive southward to Khammouane Province. This journey is a road-tripper’s dream, taking you through the heart of the Lao countryside. You’ll wind through dramatic mountain passes and pass through local villages, witnessing the raw, natural beauty that defines central Laos.

Your destination is The Rock Viewpoint at Phou Pha Marn, often called “The Peak of the Loop.” This is the gateway to one of the largest limestone forests in Asia. You will be staying at The Rock Lodge in their unique Capsule accommodation. These modern, eco-friendly pods are designed to blend into the rugged environment and, importantly, include your own private bathroom for a comfortable stay amidst the wilderness. Morning: The Legend of Kong Lor Cave After an early breakfast, you will depart for Kong Lor Cave, a 7.5 km subterranean wonder and one of the most impressive geological sites in Southeast Asia. Upon arrival, you’ll board a traditional long-tail motorboat with a skilled local boatman. As you disappear into the massive mouth of the cave, the world of light fades, replaced by the glow of headlamps reflecting off the river and the glittering walls. You will navigate through enormous chambers—some reaching over 90 meters in height—filled with ancient stalactites and stalagmites. Halfway through, you’ll emerge into a hidden valley on the other side for a brief glimpse of remote village life before retracing your path back through the mountain.

Afternoon: The Rock Viewpoint Highlights Following your cave expedition, you will return to The Rock Viewpoint to conquer the “Limestone Forest” from above. This is a world-class adventure circuit designed to showcase the jagged karst landscape of Phou Pha Marn. Your experience includes:

Option 1: Discover the Mystical Buddha Park (Wat Xieng Khuan) Step into a surreal riverside landscape at this famous open-air museum. You will explore an extraordinary collection of over 200 statues, where intricate stone carvings of Buddhist and Hindu deities stand side-by-side in a serene, artistic display. Highlights include a massive 40-meter reclining Buddha and a giant “pumpkin” structure that you can climb for a panoramic view of the entire park.

Option 2: Heritage at the Lao National Museum For those passionate about craftsmanship, this museum offers a deep dive into the nation’s soul. After a final breakfast in Vientiane, you will be transferred to the airport for your morning flight to Pakse with Lao Airlines (10:30–11:30). Upon arrival, you will enjoy a short orientation tour of Pakse, the gateway to Southern Laos. You’ll witness a unique blend of French colonial and Chinese-style architecture and have the chance to explore the bustling local market, where the vibrant colors and flavors of the south come to life.

In the afternoon, you will journey to Wat Phou Champasak, a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site. This pre-Angkorian temple complex predates Cambodia’s Angkor Wat and is beautifully situated amidst lush rice fields and tranquil waterways. You can explore the temple’s three distinct levels:

• The Lower Level: Centered around the grand baray (water reservoir) and a dramatic ceremonial promenade.

• The Second Level: Home to intricate pavilions and galleries featuring exceptionally preserved stone carvings.

• The Top Level: The sacred sanctuary itself, offering breathtaking views over the surrounding plains.

Surrounded by vibrant flora, the falls offer a picturesque setting where you can feel the mist from the powerful cascades as they plunge into the jungle pool below.

From there, you will continue to the iconic Tad Fane, a pair of twin 120-meter-high waterfalls. Formed by the merging of the Champy and Pak Koot rivers, these falls are among the most spectacular in Southeast Asia, plunging into a deep, verdant gorge on the edge of the Dong Hua Sao protected area. You will enjoy a memorable lunch at a local restaurant with a direct, panoramic view of the twin falls.

In the afternoon, you will head southward toward the 4,000 Islands (Si Phan Don) region. Here, the Mekong River expands to a width of 14km, creating a vast labyrinth of rapids, cascades, and thousands of islands. Your gateway is Khong Island, the largest in the archipelago.

Upon reaching the Na Kasang boat pier, you will transition to a traditional “pointed-head” style boat—the only way to access your destination, as there are no roads or bridges connecting these islands to the mainland. You will be whisked across the water to Don Khone, a tranquil island known for its French colonial history and laid-back atmosphere. Day 14: The Heart of the 4,000 Islands

Today is dedicated to exploring the tranquil charm and powerful landscapes of Don Khone. This island holds a unique place in history; during the French colonial era, it served as a vital link between Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Because the massive waterfalls of the Mekong made the river unnavigable, the French built a specialized railway to bypass the rapids. Today, you can visit the historic railway bridge, which has been preserved as a stunning viewpoint overlooking the river.

To truly soak in the island’s atmosphere, bicycles are the perfect way to navigate the flat, scenic paths (though a tuk-tuk can easily be arranged if you prefer a more relaxed pace). As you ride, you’ll see the authentic rhythms of island life, from fishermen casting their nets into the Mekong to water buffalo cooling off in the shallows.

The highlight of your day is a visit to the Liphi Waterfall, also known as Tat Somphamit. Rather than a single drop, Liphi is a roaring, dynamic landscape of jagged rocks and rushing white water, where the raw power of the Mekong River is on full display. The area is exceptionally beautiful, and you can experience it safely by crossing the walking bridges that have been built directly over the cascades, offering an exhilarating perspective of the river’s force. Day 15 – Don Khone to Pakse – End of the Trip

On your final day in the south, you will travel through a scenic landscape of local plantations and traditional villages toward the magnificent Khone Phapheng Waterfall. Known as the “Pearl of the Mekong,” this is the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia by volume. It is a truly awe-inspiring sight, where the mighty Mekong River breaks into a series of thundering cascades and jagged rapids.
