Day 2: Buenos Aires, Argentina

Welcome to Argentina! Upon arrival at the airport you will be met my an Earth Trip representative that will transfer you to your hotel.

After arrival you will be taken on a half day Buenos Aires city tour. This tour offers the perfect balance between driving ad light walking. It will give you a overview of the city’s most iconic areas: Buenos Aires: Plaza de Mayo, La Boca neighborhood, and many other attractions.

Day 3: Buenos Aires – Bariloche

In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Bariloche. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 4: Bariloche 

Today you will have a full days excursions along the classic circuit of San Carlos de Bariloche and combine with an authentic food experience hosted by a local chef. The guide will explain how this little mountain village has get to be one of the most attractive towns in Patagonia, and the Adventure Tourism Capital.

While visiting stunning viewpoints of the area, such as Campanario Hill and Llao-Llao Peninsula, you will see amazing panoramic views of Moreno and Nahuel Huapi lakes, as well as Capilla and Lopez mountains.

Campanario Hill in Bariloche offers one of the most impressive panoramic views in the region, described by some as one of the best in the world. From its summit, 1,050 meters above sea level, you can see Lake Nahuel Huapi, Victoria Island, the San Pedro Peninsula, and the snow-capped Andes Mountains. Ticket is included so during the tour an stop will take place in order to enjoy the view and relax.

Afterwards, the chef will be waiting for you you on its family’s farm located on the remote San Pedro Peninsula, to participate of his traditional “cocina de fuegos”. With a good wine on hands you will taste fresh products like patagonian trout with vegetables and other argentinian meats. All of them will be roasted on his simple and rustic way of cooking in which the fire and the cast iron plate will give to the food its particular character. Even the dessert will participate of this simple combination of elements. The result will be an authentic experience of fire and flavours.

Day 5: Bariloche 

On this day you will start your landscape adventure at the base of Cerro Cathedral Ski Center. It’s a 9.65 km trek with moderate difficulty. Walking the flat trail with views of Lake Gutiérrez you will enter the forest, crossing the picturesque Van Titter Creek and continue hiking through forest and rocky terrain until you catch the glimpse of the majestic “Agujas” of Cerro Cathedral. You will eventually reach Refugio Emilio Frey next to the beautiful Laguna Toncek.

Day 6: Bariloche

After breakfast you will visit Peuma Hue which offers a wide variety of outdoor activities within it’s 250-acre property. Located in the Continental Divide Valley, with 2 miles of lake shore and at the foot of the southern end of the Cordillera Cathedral, its varied terrain offers different options of beautiful and majestic landscapes along its many trails for hiking and horseback riding. The trails cater to different levels of experience and abilities. The ranch has a meeting room, an ecumenical temple, an organic garden and a greenhouse, a small pier and a large number of native birds. Gourmet cuisine is characterized by being not only delicious but also healthy and balanced, based on homemade products and organic gardens. On the day of your stay, you will enjoy guided walks through the forest, a moment of relaxation with views of the lake and an exquisite lunch in a highly personalized experience and a welcoming environment for everyone.

Day 7: Bariloche – Puerto Varas

In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel and transfer to Puerto Pañuelo for your lake crossing via cruise.

Departing from Puerto Pañuelo, on the Llao Llao peninsula, you will sail for an hour through the most important branch of the Lago Nahuel Huapi. Prepare your camera for the best sights of the Islote Centinela (Centinela Island) resting place of Perito Francisco P. Moreno, father of the Argentinean National Parks. Also, get your heart ready to be astounded by the beauty of the Blanca (white) waterfalls and from there continue on to Puerto Blest. Once you dock, you can tour the Bahía Blest (Blest Bay) and Rio Frías and its surprising and unusual green waters, coming down from the pure glaciers of Cerro Tronador.

You can make a stop at this port and stay at the recently remodeled Puerto Blest Hotel, where you can enjoy the magical location, go into the vast Selva Valdiviana, enjoy the multiple trekking options available and see the majestic Cascada de los Cántaros.

After docking at Puerto Blest, a bus then takes you through the woods for a 15 minute drive. The bus follows the Lago Frías along a winding road with breathtaking scenery that leads to Puerto Alegre, on the bank of Lago Frías. Once there, you get on another boat and sail on the lake for about 25 minutes up to Puerto Frías. After completing all immigration and customs procedures, a 4×4 bus built especially for the mountain takes you to the highest point of the entire crossing to cross the international border with Chile. You’ll see the unbeatable landscapes of the Selva Valdiviana up to Peulla. This ecological town, located at the heart of the Parque Nacional Vicente Pérez Rosales, is without a doubt a place where nature and magic become one. The thousand-year-old forest and lush vegetation amazes all visitors with its stunning views, waterfalls, streams, lakes and variety of birds. This and several outdoor activities make Peulla a daily visited tourist attraction, and this is our choice destination to stop for lunch.

After, a boat will take you to Lago Todos los Santos, heading to Petrohue, where you’ll travel by land again. Finally, following the Lago Llanquihue, you arrive at the city of Puerto Varas. Upon arrival you will transferred to your hotel.

Day 8: Puerto Varas

Today you will visit Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park—the oldest national park in Chile—and follow the Desolation Pass route. Ascend to the pass between Osorno Volcano and Mount La Picada, observing the glacially sculpted landscape and the towering summit of Osorno—one of Chile’s most active volcanoes. Take in incredible views of Todos Los Santos Lake and the surrounding snowcapped peaks, then head downhill to a beach, where your hike culminates.

Day 9: Puerto Varas

After breakfast you will drive to Ralún, the verdant meeting point of the Petrohué River and Reloncaví fjord, for a day of kayaking. After a brief demonstration and safety talk, we take to the waters, paddling south towards the small fishing village of Cochamó. Soak up the serene surroundings as you glide past salmon farms; sea birds; and, with luck, sea lions and Austral dolphins. Stop for lunch at the edge of the fjord, enjoying a meal prepared by a local family.

Day 10: Puerto Varas – Hornopirén

In the morning, you will depart from Puerto Varas and drive to Hornopiren. Along the way you will be passing through Coihuin, Playa Metri, Lenca and arriving at Caleta la Arena. Board the ferry that navigates the mouth of the Reloncaví Estuary to Contao and continue to the Pichicolo Hot Springs immersed in lush vegetation of the evergreen forest with its medicinal hot springs. Continue to Hornopiren. Visit the Río Negro and Río Blanco waterfalls. Drop off at your accommodation in Hornopiren.

Day 11: Hornopirén – Chaitén

After breakfast the ferry boat will sail the Comau Fjord to Leptepu, Largo Fjord, and Caleta Gonzalo, stopping at the visitor center. After, continue by vehicle to ancient Alerce trees, where you will enjoy a gentle walk across a suspension bridge to admire the incredible creatures of the Alerce trees, approximately 3,000 years old. Arrival in Chaitén and marvel at the rebirth of a town devastated by the largest volcanic eruption in the Southern Hemisphere in recent years. Overnight in Chaitén.

Day 12: Chaitén – Futaleufú

After breakfast, continue the Carretera Austral tour to Lake Yelcho, and hike the trail to Yelcho Glacier in Corcovado National Park. At the end of the activity continue to Futaleufu and drop off at your hotel. Rest of day at leisure.

After breakfast you cross the border and head to Esquel where you will stay over night. The journey is approximately 1,5 hours by car. Upon arrival the rest of day is free.

Day 15: Esquel – Buenos Aires

In the morning you will transfer to the airport for your flight back to Buenos Aires.

In the evening you will be taken to the Tango House. La Ventana Tango offers a tango show in a refurbished historical “Conventillo” that has become one of the leaders within the tango scene in Buenos Aires. You will experience a show that it is the perfect union of the best and virtuous tango dancers, an exceptional orchestra composed of diffrent musicians, the power of the singer’s voice and fusion with folklore, giving as a result a show with the true Argentine flavor. All this held in a romantic and intimate atmosphere. This Tango House is located on the heart of the Buenos Aires neighborhood of San Telmo. The walls of its elegant salons, which were formerly part of a tenement house, house the best of Buenos Aires tango. Thus offering the public an architectural and tango show that takes them back to the past.

After you will be transferred back to your hotel.
