Sample Trinidad and Tobago itineraries

These are starting points. Every trip is changed to suit you.

Rainforest, Reefs and Beaches (10 nights)

• Arima Valley, Trinidad, 3 nights: stay in the rainforest of the Northern Range for birdwatching, with an afternoon boat trip into the Caroni Swamp to see the scarlet ibis.
• Castara or Speyside, Tobago, 3 nights: fly to Tobago for the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, waterfalls and snorkelling around Little Tobago.
• Southwest Tobago, 4 nights: Pigeon Point, Buccoo Reef and the Nylon Pool, then relax on the beach.

Trinidad Carnival and Tobago (9 nights, February)

• Port of Spain, Trinidad, 5 nights: join the Carnival build-up, steelpan, calypso and soca, then J’ouvert and the parades on Carnival Monday and Tuesday.
• Tobago, 4 nights: fly to Tobago on Ash Wednesday to recover on the beach.

Turtles and Birds (8 nights, March to August)

• Grande Riviere, Trinidad, 2 nights: watch giant leatherback turtles nest on the beach at night with a local guide.
• Arima Valley, Trinidad, 2 nights: rainforest birdwatching and the scarlet ibis at the Caroni Swamp.
• Tobago, 4 nights: rainforest walks, reefs and beaches to finish.
