This morning, you will visit the historic Dambatenne Tea Factory, built in 1890 by the legendary Sir Thomas Lipton. This colonial-era factory remains fully operational today and is the very birthplace of the term “Ceylon Tea.” It was from these grounds that the first pound of Lipton’s Tea was founded and sold to the world.

The factory tour offers a fascinating look at the traditional machinery and the intricate steps involved in tea production—from fermentation and rolling to drying, cutting, and grading.
