Jeremy Snelling – Senior Travel Specialist

Jeremy has spent his whole life travelling, be that for leisure, business, study, backpacking, fam & educational trips, or music. To date, he has visited 66 countries across six continents and previously ran his own travel company before joining Earth Trip –or a full list of all the relevant 66 countries see the table at the bottom of this biography) 

About Jeremy

Jeremy was born and grew up in the UK -and later, aged in his 20s, lived in Sydney, Australia working for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

After a successful 30-year senior career in Broadcasting, Publishing and News Media he indulged his passion for travel by swapping hats to work within in the Travel Sector itself.  When he is not working or travelling, he is reading, playing the piano, listening to music, cooking or indulging in gastronomy and wine, going to exhibitions, watching sport or enjoying the cinema, theatre and live music, although his number one love is spending time with his life partner and/or with his 3 x Adult daughters.

Jeremy enjoys living in  multi-cultural London and feels he  is lucky in that home is in a Grade 11 listed building by the Thames, but says if he had to live in one place outside of London it would be Japan – because it combines the old-world charm, history and culture, and sophistication one can find in Europe with the get-up-and-go energy and entrepreneurial spirit, drive, and tech of new-world countries like the USA, Canada and Australia plus the exotica and mysticism of the Orient and has some of the best food in the world.

• His first ever long-haul trip was Thailand in the 1980s when it was still off the beaten track.
• His most favourite hotel on the planet is Das Cataratas – a luxury Belmond property,  and the only hotel within the Iguazu Falls National Park in Brazil . Its location (overlooking one the greatest waterfalls in the world) is unbeatable. At six o’clock, after the day trippers go home, the small number of hotel guests have the view to themselves and get to see sunset and sunrise over the falls in glorious isolation. All that with world-class luxury.
• His favourite beach is on Lamu, an island in the Indian Ocean off Kenya. It’s pure quintessential, unspoilt paradise: soft white sand, fringed by colourful bougainvillea with a backdrop of Swahili and Arabic culture dating from the days of the old spice trade.

However, Jeremy’s core key informed destination knowledge and expertise lies   in Latin America – which is the travel region to where , on behalf of clients, he specialises in designing and curating trips. So,  whether it is Machu Pichu, Iguazu Falls, Patagonia, The Galapagos , Easter Island, Chichen Itza, The Amazon, Cartagena,  The Andes, The Salt Flats, Panama Canal, Monteverde Antigua, The Blue Hole, Granada, Kaieteur Falls or Antarctica give Jeremy a shout as he is your man for any trip to:  Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Argentina, Chile Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, The Guianas, Ecuador & The Galapagos, Uruguay, Paraguay, Falklands & Antarctica

Also, having once ran a S.E. Asia Travel business for 10 years he has personally travelled extensively to that region as well, therefore Jeremy additionally maintains informed destination and travel product knowledge about Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia so whether it is Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Angkor Wat, Halong Bay, Cu Chi Tunnels, Sapa Trekking Luang Prabang, Bali. Next on Jeremy’s personal travel bucket list is the USA Southern states to go to Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, Muscle Shoals and Montgomery; to combine music and the blues trail with plantation history and Martin Luther King’s legacy. Also, outstanding on his travel wish list, amogdt many other places is Uganda and the Gorillas in the Mist.
