Roo Mansala Boutique Villas: An Intimate Refuge in the Shadow of Kings
Perfectly positioned between the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the rugged heights of Pidurangala, Roo Mansala Boutique Villas is an oasis of “modern-meets-ancient” design. This small, owner-run property pays homage to the hydraulic marvels and stone architecture of the nearby citadel while offering the refined comforts of a contemporary boutique hotel. Set amongst lush, fertile plains, the resort is designed to provide a sense of “quiet luxury,” where the only distractions are the panoramic views of the “Eighth Wonder of the World” and the gentle sounds of the surrounding dry-zone forest.
Earth Trip Opinion
Roo Mansala is one of our favourite “finds” for those who want to be close to the action of the Cultural Triangle but away from the crowds. It feels remarkably private—with only six rooms, the service is exceptionally personal and attentive. We love that you can literally see the Sigiriya Fortress from your bed in some of the suites. It is the perfect spot for early risers who want to beat the heat at Pidurangala and return for a long, lazy afternoon by the pool. For travellers who value authenticity and high-quality local cuisine over the anonymity of larger resorts, this is a superb choice.
