Discover the South West Coast

Laguna Blu is a welcoming resort located on the beach of Ampasilava on the stunning South West coast, 170 kilometres north of Tulear.

The 14 spacious bungalows have a sea view and private bathroom with sky-view shower and all modern amenities. The comfortable rooms are equipped with electricity, hot water, mosquito nets and a ceiling fan.

The restaurant has a panoramic terrace looking out over the beautiful Indian Ocean. Choose from daily fresh meals with fish and pasta, made by the talented Italian chef.

Between late August and mid-October, it is possible to look for humpback whales: every year they migrate and swim very close to Laguna Blu’s beach.

Laguna Blu is run by a hospitable Italian couple Emanuela and Ernesto who kindly welcome you to experience the wonderful setting of Andavadoaka.

Rooms & Accommodation

The resort features 14 stone-built bungalows, each meticulously crafted to offer privacy while maintaining a connection to the environment. The design prioritizes natural airflow and a seamless indoor-outdoor feel.

  • Bungalows: Built from local stone with traditional thatched roofs, every room faces the ocean to capture the sea breeze.

  • Minimalist Luxury: Rooms are furnished with locally made wooden furniture, mosquito nets, and private terraces, focusing on comfort through simplicity rather than high-tech amenities.

Dining

The culinary experience at Laguna Blu is a sophisticated fusion of Italian heritage and local Malagasy resources. The restaurant serves as a central social hub, offering panoramic views of the lagoon.

Sustainability & Community

Laguna Blu operates with a deep respect for the local environment and its people. By employing staff from the surrounding villages and supporting local fishermen, the resort ensures that tourism benefits the community directly. The architecture uses sustainable local materials, and the resort’s presence helps to highlight the importance of preserving the rare marine and forest habitats of the Southwest.

Earth Trip Opinion

Laguna Blu is one of Madagascar’s best-kept secrets for travelers who want to get off the beaten track. It isn’t a place of gold-plated luxury; rather, it provides the luxury of space, silence, and untouched nature. The journey to reach it is long and can be bumpy, but the reward is a stretch of coastline that feels entirely your own. The Italian influence in the kitchen is a wonderful surprise, turning simple local ingredients into world-class meals. It is a perfect choice for those who value authenticity and environmental harmony over air-conditioned corridors.
